Preaching to the Perverted is a highly enjoyable romp of a movie!
Filmed in 1997 in the UK, Preaching to the Perverted explores the UK fetish scene from the point of view of Peter (Christien Anholt), a young virginal male talked into infiltrating the underground by a member of Parliament intent on taking down all the perverts. Outfitted with spy glasses to film all the hot kinky action in the sex clubs, Peter quickly gets wrapped up in Mistress Tanya Cheex’s (Guinevere Turner) charisma (and boobs.)
If you’re looking for a reality based idea of what kink and fetish is all about, you’ll be disappointed.
If, on the other hand, you’re looking for a lighthearted, funny and pretty peek into someone’s idea of fetish sex, then hold on to your hat! Mistress Cheex looks fantastic whether she’s wearing chrome body armor, latex dresses or Peter’s pants and shirt. Peter is just so cute I want to give him a nice spanking too! All the actors and actresses, some of whom were really from London’s underground fetish scene, wearing their own outfits and doing their own fabulous makeup, looked amazing. The club scenes were straight out of my fantasies, the outfits were to lust after and the actual kink? Hot as heck.
The movie got a few things exactly right.
Throughout the movie there is an emphasis on consent. Absolutely nothing is done without the overt consent of the participants. Period, ever. I love that part. The fact that these are happy, content kinky perverts all getting their groove on and having lots of fun doing it is emphasized again and again. At one point in the movie, Peter asks Tanya what her ‘darkest fantasy’ is. It turns out her darkest fantasy isn’t what you’d expect. I’ll leave it at that, because I don’t want to spoil the big surprise of the movie!
I liked the extra features on the dvd, too.
There were some behind the scenes features, a look at the films premier in London and a peek at the comic inspired by the story boards for the movie. All tons of fun! Did you know that for the famous ‘chapel’ scene, filmed at an actual chapel, the producers had to pay the local vicar 500 pounds to allow them to continue filming? I love knowing that was going on in the background… and that it was September and freezing cold, so give all those slaves some kudos for being mostly nude in that weather! I hope they got to go somewhere warm right afterwards.
All in all, I love Preaching to the Perverted.
Fun, funny, great characters and actors doing a really awesome job; a good look at the fetish scene without all the scare tactics and doom and gloom. Britain really does produce some quality kinky cinema, and P2tP is among the best. There’s a reason this is a cult favorite, well known to kinky folks and a constant hit with party goers (this on in the background while we act out our own versions of the ‘darkest fantasy’? yum yum!) You can get this from Netflix, because that’s where I got it from! Add this to your queue, order it online from amazon or borrow it from your kinky friends and have a movie night. You won’t be disappointed!
