Don’t freak out if you’re not, there’s a lot of new terminology and phrases in the LGBTQIA+ world, and it can be hard to keep up. Really, all you need to know to be ready for Pride Month is that being a bigot and trying to make other people live the way you think they should is simply Not Done, and that there’s nothing inherently wrong with sex, sexuality, or playing with your gender. Get those two facts right and you’ll be ready to boogie at the Pride Parade with all the queers and drag queens and kings!

June is Pride Month!

This means that for the entire month of June you’ll see a lot of products with new packaging featuring rainbows, and statements from corporations about how inclusive they are. This is known as ‘Rainbow Capitalism’, and oftentimes companies will plaster rainbows on everything and still donate to anti-LGBT organizations, because sadly hypocrisy doesn’t make people burst into flames. Here at the Empire, and in LDW land, we just naturally are fully inclusive and diverse all the time, because we always have been. We just haven’t drawn a lot of attention to things because that sort of marketing can make some people a little nervous. But all this time, we’ve been open and accepting of folks experimenting and exploring their gender expression and sexuality, even if we didn’t put a rainbow on it and call it gay.

Celebrate who and what you are with us

No matter what turns you on or makes you go all tingly, you’ll be able to call and talk about your kinks, fetishes, and desires with folks who understand and accept you. Well, mostly. There are a few things that we just don’t do for real here: we won’t tell you you’re a bad person for what you want to do sexually, and we won’t shun you for perversion. That stuff’s fine in a fantasy or roleplay, but seriously, you’re great and we adore you! Bring your fullest expression of yourself to your sessions with us and we’ll leave you gasping for more.

Live and let live, and stand in solidarity and support with the gay, lesbian, bi, queer, trans, intersex, and asexual spectrum folks, because if you’re straight you have a lot of power right now. Solidarity and support, and your open and loud advocacy for the queer and gay folks, and the trans and intersex persons, who have been and are being targeted by some very icky people right now, is so very important. Be loud with us, and stand with us, and don’t just use a trans person as a sex toy when you feel like it to get off. Only if they like that sort of thing, anyway. Trans persons, and cute gay twinks, and femmeboys with nice tits, all need to be more than just your favorite sort of porn right now; they all need to be the people you cheer on and support and protect from the slings and arrows of people with meanness and cruelty in their gaze. Think of it this way: you love trans porn performers, so support them when they’re not performing, too.
