I bet that title got your attention, didn’t it?
What’s a Virtual Burn? Ok, so, every year there is that Thing in the Desert, aka Burning Man, along with dozens of regional Burns and camping events in the same style and vibe as the Man. And, in the Virtual World there are often analogous events alongside real world events, festivals, ceremonies, and so on. So a Virtual Burn is a Burning Man like event that happens in the 3D virtual world! And you can come join in all the fun from October 11th through the 20th!
Now, I don’t make a big deal out of it, but I’m a burner.
I haven’t made it out to the big Burn (yet), but I have attended smaller regional Burns in Texas. So I know all about the philosophy, vibe, and community that arises around a Burn. The Burn events in the real world are focused on radical self reliance, community, non-commodification, environmental stewardship, and generosity. Burns and burners have deeply influenced the way I move through the world and my take on relationships with my fellow people. A Burn runs on a gifting economy: you can’t buy anything (other than bagged ice) at a Burn, but you can trade, or be gifted. So, in the spirit of the big Burn, for the Virtual Burn Event, I, along with a bunch of my fellow Enchantrixes, are giving gifts! BUT, you have to be in the virtual world to get your present.
In the spirit of the Burn, come join us!
You already know that the Virtual World is free to join and free to play. There’s tutorials and guides and all sorts of ways to help you get started. Once you’re in the virtual world, the experience is up to you! Join us at that Thing at the Virtual Desert, and see how much fun you can have! Our camp‘s theme is based around yoga, meditation, altered states of consciousness, a connection with your intuitive side, and just, being super chill. Drop by, grab your presents (art, audios, and more!), sit for a guided meditation, do some yoga and stretch, then go explore to see all the amazing things available at the Virtual Burn! See the full range of human creativity on display, and don’t forget to participate! That’s the other part of a Burn: there are no bystanders.
