That’s right, I’m about to educate you about the wide wonderful world of slippery fun lube! There’s so many different sorts of lube out there it’s easy to become confused. That trip to the sex store seems so fun, until you’re faced with the eternal question: what the fuck do I need with fifteen billion kinds of sex lube?! There’s a reason there’s so many different sorts of lube out there, so buckle up while I expound!
What do you use water based lube for?
Water based lube is a fantastic multi-purpose lube for every occasion! Like the name implies, it’s mostly water. Water based lube comes in a wide array of flavors, blends, and varieties, but all you really need to know is that it’s safe for use with latex condoms, won’t degrade your high end silicone sex toys, and, if you opt for the glycerin free varieties, won’t leave you with any issues with itchy yeast. Practically perfect in every way, it even washes out of the sheets easily! What’s not to love about water based lube?!!!
Well, silicone based lube would like to have a moment to shine.
All the ways that water based lube could be deemed a lube for every occasion also apply to silicone based lubes. There’s a few caveats that apply to silicone that don’t apply to water based, however. You cannot use silicone based lube on silicone sex toys, and it doesn’t wash out easily. BUT! Silicone based lube lasts a whole lot longer and is much more slick and smooth than water based lube. Silicone based lube also doesn’t wash off your skin easily, which means it’s perfect for water games! Feel up to some fun in the pool or hot tub? Silicone based lube is the answer!
But wait, there’s more!
I can’t really say that oil based lube is a lube for every occasion, because it’s a bit more specific in it’s use. Oil based lube will absolutely break down latex condoms! That’s a problem, a huge one. That said, for what it does, it does really damn well. If you’re looking for the perfect lube for your ass, you’ve found it. Provided you and your partner aren’t worried about disease or infection transmission, and are going to be doing ‘butt stuff’, oil based lube is your new best friend. It lasts forever and a day, is thicker and stays put well, and, for anal sex, it’s the best option for ease of use.
